Back in Nigeria

I safely made it back to Nigeria.

Had an uneventful trip. I tried out my new Sony Noise Cancelling headphones and I have to say it does make a difference to the stress of the journey. Basically though they are just ear plugs with speakers in. The noise cancelling circuit does make a small difference but the shape of the ear phones means that most external noises are removed anyway even with the circuit off.

I watched Alfie the 2004 version which wasn't bad, and then after I got to see most of 'Flight of the Phoenix' (the original Jimmy Stewart and Richard Attenborough movie) about a plane that crashes in a desert. Great fun when I was flying over the Algerian Sahara at the time. The movie was switched off before the end though so I never did get to see if 'the phoenix' flew. I assume they wouldn't have made the movie if it crashed and killed the survivors of the first crash.

I arrived around 7 in the morning and unpacked my stuff. I brought a new duvet, covers and sheets for my bed so I fitted those and had a nap.

When I woke up I played some music, I bought the new Chemical Brothers album, and the Killers album at the airport, and then went downstairs to find that I was the only one in the house. I was hungry so I went out to Pats bar with N... for lunch. I drove myself which was fun.

Later we went to Alpha beach which was very lively, a bit too crowded for me but we relaxed a bit.

I'm home now, that's about all.

Don't know why flickr or vodafone isn't transferring my message text but I did write that this photo was taken at Leigh De La mer services on the m4. I was on my way to Heathrow and had to pull over to make a call.

Assault on Precinct 13

Assault on Precinct 13 gets the thumbs up from me.

Ok it's an action movie and the script writers obviously padded out the dialogue with the 'f' word far too much seemingly in order to justify it's age rating. It may be a remake of a 1976 John Carpenter Movie, But this is still a first class thrill ride. and will have you biting your nails.

A movie you should not see is Electra. It number one in my worst movies of the year so far, it's not saying much as it's only the end of January but I doubt there could be many movies worse than that. I just don't understand it at all. Bleh.

Team America, White Noise, National Treasure, House Of Flying Daggers, The Incredibles, Without A paddle. all get the thumbs up.

Back To Nigeria Soon, picked up a brand new ford focus hire car today, it's the new 2005 model. It may be boring but I want one. It's a great car.

The Incredibles!

Just got back from the cinema, we went to see White Noise which opened today but it was sold out so we saw The Incredibles instead. Despite what I was told I thought this was another Pixar Triumph, Fantastic stuff. Probably not such a great kids movie as Finding Nemo or Toy Story but It's great for adults.

Noticed that 'Team America: World Police' is coming out Jan 14th which I Have to see.

New Car

Picked up the new Car today, a Ford Ka. Small and very basic but I'm surprised how well it goes, not bad at all really.

Took Dan over to bristol in the afternoon, went to Ikea to get my Duvet and covers for Nigeria and I had a look at the window blinds, looks like I might have to buy 2 x 1m blinds for one window and a 140 for the other. I'll need to trim them up a bit but I'm sure they'll both work fine.

I'm also looking for tile paint for my bathroom, I'm going to use either white with either black or blue, not sure yet. I am worried I'll have to sand it down first, it's a lot of tiles.

Visited Tom after Ikea and watched Van Helsing on his new LCD widescreen tv.
