A Photo Diary from a first time visitor to Lagos

After catching up with some of my blog reading, I got hooked by a link on Back to the Beginning by Through these Eyes. A South African man's visit to Lagos working for V Mobile September 2005. A number of things he says in his commentary aren't strictly true but it's only to be expected on your first trip, The information you have to absorb is so overwelming mistakes are easy to make. But "He don try sha!"

Words cannot express how wonderful it was to happen upon your pictures. I recently went to Lagos and married a man there. Your pictures transported me back, sitting in the car with my husband, seeing all the same things you captured on film. My husband wouldn't let me walk the streets (afraid that I would be bumped into, touched, hurt because I was a white woman). You were able to capture so many of the things I observed. It was funny to see your comments they were my thougts as well. You however saw a more sophisticated Lagos than I did. I wish you could have seen some of the more normal daily lives, visit the common home. There is a whole different experience. Take care (e rora) and thanks for sharing.
