5 shopping days left!

I ordered a few more DVDs as Christmas presents, apparently they should arrive before Christmas, Let's hope so.

Today, I went with N... to her house, She's had her microwave fixed by the same people that fitted our mirrors and windows. Sounds weird but only the glass on the front of the microwave was broken. It was also an opportunity to try and fix her PC so that she can watch '24' on the cds and dvd-roms I gave her. Her hard drive was corrupt with bad sectors so I found a replacement. However when I was just setting up windows, the monitor suddenly made a fizzing sound and sweet smelling smoke came pouring out. I'm guess a capacitor burst, there's no way I could fix it without the right tools so I had to leave it, it's better to have it repaired by professionals anyway. I think she needs to get a new voltage regulator and have the batteries replaced in her UPS before we repair it.

I saw N...'s neighbour Mikey on the way out. He's a Motorbike Nut, and a regular at Bob's bar, he's been asking me to come over for ages to play on his PS2 and drink Beer, He doesn't understand why I can't drink beer on my diet. He seemed quite disappointed I was leaving, I promised to call in when I am there next, besides it'd be kinda fun.

I drove myself to N...'s house, something I've been doing since I got my Nigerian license. Dad thinks I should be using it as my driving license in the UK since legally I am resident in Nigeria. I only drive on weekends, and usually Sunday's because it's much quieter. On weekends we only have 1 driver on duty so having to go where everyone else wants to go is too restrictive so I just jump in the Car and go where I want. I'm sensible about it of course, I know Lagos quite well now so I know which areas to avoid and where police checkpoints are likely to be. They can be a problem if you don't have a small bribe to hand. I haven't been stopped while driving yet but when I've been stopped with one of our Nigerian drivers I've been able to joke my way through some of them, by using the little bit of Yoruba and pidgin English I know. But then there's other times when a bribe is the ONLY way I'll get moving again.

We all went for dinner at Pats bar, I like Pat's food, good British pub grub, none of this pepper fish soup and pounded yam nonsense.

Got a busy day tomorrow closing up the office and stuff. I'm always rushing around in the days before I travel, I'm glad I had today to take some time for myself.
